This Vihan was specially built to house a large (over 12 metres high) and famous bronze statue, Phra Monghon Bophit, by a Prince Naris, who was a brother of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn). It lies just to the west of Si Samphet. Besides the main statue there are also many smaller ones, which have been liberally covered with gold leaf.
