24. Āryasiṁha

high-definition creative commons about Āryasiṁha in the Transmission of the Lamp together with further information.

Āryasiṁha, the Twenty-Fourth Patriarch, was a Brahmin from Central India who traveled to Kashmir to unify various meditation sects. His life ended in martyrdom when a local king, testing his indifference to life and death, beheaded him. Miraculously, white milk instead of blood spurted from his neck, and the king’s arm immediately fell off as karmic retribution. Before this, he had already ensured the continuation of the lineage by transmitting the Dharma and the Robe of Faith to Bashyashita.
