The Sāsanavaṁsa, which was composed in 1861 by Ven. Paññasāmi in Myanmar, rewrites the history of the Asokan missions to send most of them to Myanmar (here spelt in Pāḷi as Mramma). Although this is historically unsubstantiated, if we leave that aside, then what we have is a fascinating look at the many times the religion rose ane fell away again in Myanmar, and especially its interaction with Sri Lanka over the centuries.
