King Devānampiyatissa welcomed the Bodhi-tree with grand honors, wading into the sea to receive it. The sapling was transported to Anurādhapura and planted in the Mahāmegha garden, where it miraculously rose into the air, radiating light. Afterward, Saṅghamittā Therī ordained Queen Anulā and her followers, formally establishing the Bhikkhunī Sāsana. The tree later produced eight fruits, which grew into saplings distributed across the island, symbolizing the enduring growth of the Buddha’s teachings in Laṅkā.
