These chapters trace the origins and ordination of Sanghamitta and her brother Mahinda. Born to King Asoka and Queen Devi, their lives shifted as Asoka transitioned from Violent Asoka to Righteous Asoka. After seeing the spiritual peace of the Sangha, Asoka’s brother Tissa and Sanghamitta’s husband, Aggibrahma, entered the monkhood. Inspired, Asoka later dedicated his own children to the Buddha’s Dispensation, leading to Mahinda’s full ordination and Sanghamitta’s entry as a novice.
