After returning from Burma, the author temporarily stayed at a Colombo temple, where his subtle brilliance as an Abhidhamma teacher quickly outshone a world-renowned scholar. To avoid causing offense, he quietly relocated to a seaside temple in Panadure. Blessed with an exceptional photographic memory, he memorized most of the Tipiṭaka. Conducive coastal conditions eventually inspired him to write his very first book, An Enquiry into Nibbāna.
