10 Rūpadevī

high-definition creative commons posters depicting Rūpadevī Story from the Rasavāhiṇī (Heart Streams) together with further information.

During Buddha Vipassī’s time, a girl healed a sick monk (gilānabhikkhu) with medicine. This merit led to her rebirth in a magnificent heavenly palace. Reborn as Rūpadevī during Buddha Gotama’s era, she possessed an inexhaustible rice supply, daily feeding five hundred monks and the whole city. After Elder Mahāsaṅgharakkhitatthero revealed her past karma, she continued her generous dāna. Hearing the liberating dhamma, she successfully attained the spiritual stage of sotāpannā.
