The epic concludes with a final, bittersweet reunion. Rama recognizes his sons and asks Sita to once again prove her innocence before the assembly. Sita, weary of the world’s trials, calls upon her mother, the Earth, to receive her if she has always been faithful. The ground opens, and the Goddess Bhumi carries Sita away. Stricken with grief, Rama eventually relinquishes his mortal form, returning to his divine state as Lord Vishnu.
