high-definition creative commons photographs from The Meeting of the Princes in the Ramayana together with further information.

Bharata returns to Ayodhya and is horrified by his mother’s schemes. Refusing the crown, he journeys to the forest to find Rama and implore him to return as the rightful king. At Chitrakuta, the brothers have an emotional reunion. Rama remains steadfast in his duty to fulfill their father’s command. Eventually, Bharata agrees to rule as regent, carrying Rama’s golden sandals back to place on the throne as a symbol of authority.
