I. The Bridal of Sita

high-definition creative commons photographs from The Bridal of Sita in the Ramayana together with further information.

King Janak of Videha hosts a tournament to find a worthy husband for his daughter, Sita, who was miraculously born from a furrow. The challenge requires stringing the mighty bow of Lord Rudra. While many powerful kings fail, Prince Rama of Ayodhya easily lifts, bends, and breaks the celestial weapon. Triumphant, Rama wins Sita’s hand, and their grand wedding in Mithila unites two royal families, marking the beginning of their legendary union.
