10 Dhammadūta in Indochina

high-definition creative commons photographs about Dhammadūta in Indochina from the Life of Mahasi Sayadaw together with further information.

To organize an international Sixth Buddhist Council, Burma dispatched a four-member diplomatic mission in 1952, including Mahāsi Sayādaw. In Thailand, they successfully convinced the skeptical Saṅgharāja that a democratic republic could validly sponsor the council, backed by Burma’s unrivaled scholars who had memorized the Tipiṭaka. In Cambodia, after overcoming initial barriers at Onnalon monastery, the Sayādaw successfully unified regional accents to finalize crucial council plans, before traveling to Vietnam.
