n 1949, Mahāsī Sayadaw was invited to Rangoon’s Sasana Yeiktha Meditation Centre to teach Dhamma. Starting with only 25 yogis, he introduced a structured training system based on satipaṭṭhāna vipassanā, which included daily oral examinations. His highly successful method led to a massive expansion, establishing hundreds of branch centres across Burmaa. In 1951, the government honored his vast spiritual achievements by conferring upon him the eminent title of Agga Mahā Paṇḍita.
