high-definition creative commons photographs about 08 U Thwin, Mahā Upāsaka from the Life of Mahasi Sayadaw together with further information.

Sir U Thwin spearheaded a unanimous committee decision to appoint Mahāsi Sayādaw as chief kammaṭṭhāna teacher at Rangoon’s newly built Sāsana Yeikthā. While temporarily teaching in Shwebo, the Sayādaw received an unexpected visit from Burma’s Prime Minister, who earnestly requested his presence in the capital. Honoring this spiritual duty, the Sayādaw traveled through Sagaing and Mandalay, flying to Rangoon to receive a warm, official welcome.
