06 The Seikkhun Temple

high-definition creative commons photographs about The Seikkhun Temple from the Life of Mahasi Sayadaw together with further information.

In 1932, a telegram detailing his preceptor’s critical illness forced Ashin Sobhana back to Moulmein, where he later became presiding monk. Returning to Seikkhun in 1938, he delivered a lengthier discourse on mindfulness, inspiring local pioneers to meditate relentlessly. These early disciples quickly attained the insight stage of psycho-physical dissolution, experiencing radiant light and automatic awareness of impermanence, which successfully expanded the village yogi community to fifty.
