Invited to Moulmein’s Taungwainggale monastery in 1929, Ashin Sobhana lectured on scriptures while intensely analyzing the Mahā Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta. Born into a lineage of spiritual masters, he yearned to experience empirical meditation truths. Realizing practical work requires an experienced guide to prevent errors, he decided to seek out Mingun Jetāvan Sayādaw in Thaton, a renowned teacher descending from an unbroken line of meditation masters.
