She first wished to excel in recalling past lives during Buddha Padumuttara’s era. Married to the future Mahā Kassapa, she once angrily discarded a Paccekabuddha’s alms but repented and offered pure food. Both she and her husband renounced the world together. She became an Arahat with remarkable memory of past existences, and the Buddha named her the foremost nun in this power.
