02 Ven. Khemā

high-definition creative commons posters depicting Ven. Khemā based on the Great Chronicles of the Buddhas together with further information.

She set her heart on being foremost in knowledge under Buddha Padumuttara. As Princess Samaṇī in Buddha Kassapa’s era, she remained chaste for 20,000 years. Queen Khemā avoided the Buddha fearing criticism of her beauty, but he created a vision of aging and death to awaken her. She attained Stream-entry and later Arahatship, becoming the Buddha’s foremost female disciple in wisdom.
