Under Buddha Padumuttara, he aspired to arouse devotion in the Buddha’s kin. Born on the same day as the Bodhisatta, he was his childhood playmate. Sent as a royal messenger, he ordained and became an Arahat. He prepared the king’s heart with verses describing the season’s beauty, then invited the Buddha to Kapilavatthu. He was declared foremost in inspiring the Buddha’s relatives.
