high-definition creative commons photographs about Ven. Mahā Koṭṭhita from the Great Chronicles together with further information.
Under Buddha Padumuttara, he aspired to the four analytical knowledges. In his final life, born a Brahmin in Sāvatthī, he mastered the Vedas, heard the Buddha’s discourse, and ordained. He meditated and became an Arahat endowed with analytical knowledge: of meanings, Dhamma, language, and inspiration. The Buddha declared him foremost among those possessing the four analytical knowledges.
