As ascetic Gotama with 18,000 pupils, he honoured Buddha Padumuttara with floral seats. He aspired to be foremost in teaching Dhamma. In his final life, he was ordained by his uncle Ven. Koṇḍañña and became an Arahat. He taught 500 monks using the ten bases for speech. He was declared foremost among Dhamma teachers.
