Under Buddha Padumuttara, he aspired to be foremost among those of high family. Through many lives, he performed meritorious deeds including donating seats, covers, and lights. In his final life, he was a Sakyan prince who became king but renounced it to ordain. He became an Arahat in his first Rains Retreat, later declared foremost among monastics from noble families.
