In Buddha Padumuttara’s time, he aspired to be foremost in divine eye power. He performed great light-offerings, building illuminated trees and shrines. Later as poor Annabhāra, he gave his only meal to Paccekabuddha Upariṭṭha, earning great wealth. In his final life as a Sakyan prince, he ordained and gained the divine eye, becoming foremost among those with that psychic power.
