100,000 aeons ago under Buddha Padumuttara, the future Koṇḍañña aspired to be first to penetrate the four truths under a future Buddha. After performing great merit, he was reborn as Mahākāla during Buddha Vipassī’s time. Through numerous existences, he accumulated merit. In his final life, he became the first disciple to realize the Dhamma after the Buddha’s first discourse, achieving Stream-entry together with 180 million Brahmas.
