During the time of Buddha Padumuttara, a woman aspired to become the foremost female lay disciple in offering superior articles. Reborn later as Princess Suppavāsā in Koliya, she attained Stream-entry and became the mother of Sīvali. She famously offered choicest food to the Buddha and his Saṅgha. For her dedication, the Buddha declared her the foremost among his female lay disciples who make gifts of the choicest quality.
