Sujātā, daughter of Seniya, aspired under Buddha Padumuttara to become the foremost female lay disciple. Reborn near Uruvelā in her last existence, she offered specially prepared divine milk rice to the Bodhisatta before his Awakening. After her son Yasa became an Arahat, Sujātā successfully attained fruition of Stream-entry knowledge. The Buddha declared her the foremost female lay disciple for being the earliest established in the refuges, fulfilling her ancient aspiration.
