high-definition creative commons posters depicting Sūrambaṭṭha based on the Great Chronicles of the Buddhas together with further information.
After making an aspiration in a past life, Sūrambaṭṭha attained Stream-entry during his final existence after receiving a discourse from Buddha Gotama. Seeking to shake his newly attained faith, Māra disguised himself as the Buddha and falsely claimed that some aggregates are permanent. Recognising the ruse, Sūrambaṭṭha sternly rebuked Māra, asserting that nothing could shake his conviction. Consequently, the Buddha declared him the foremost lay disciple for unshakeable conviction.
