Ugga of Vesālī was a wealthy householder who aspired to be the foremost giver of delightful things. After attaining Non-returning status through the Buddha’s direct and compassionate teaching, he practiced extraordinary generosity, offering his most cherished possessions to the Saṅgha. Renowned for eight marvellous qualities, including deep faith and profound detachment, Ugga was named the premier lay disciple for giving. He was ultimately reborn in the five Pure Abodes.
