Citta the Householder aspired to be the foremost lay expounder of the Dhamma during Buddha Padumuttara’s time. In his final life under Buddha Gotama, he became a Non-returner after hearing discourses on the sense spheres. Renowned for his generosity and wisdom, he built monasteries and engaged in profound philosophical discussions with monastics. His legendary pilgrimage to meet the Buddha was marked by miracles, and he achieved the foremost lay title.
