This chapter records the deaths of King Devānampiyatissa and the great missionaries, including Mahinda and Saṅghamittā. After decades of establishing the Dhamma, they entered Parinibbāna, leaving behind a flourishing religion. The text details the funeral rites and the deep mourning of the islanders. Despite their passing, the monastic lineage and the teachings remained stable, passed down to local disciples who continued the work of the founding generation.
