Pura Kahyangan Jagat Er Jeruk is one of the many foundations, especially along the coastal regions of Bali, of Dangh Yang Nirartha who was a famous Śaivite missionary to Bali from Java. He made consequential reforms, including the empty throne for the highest god Acintya; and the establishment of three temples for every village: Pura Desa, Pura Puseh and Pura Dalem.
Pura Desa is a temple that was built to worship Ida Sang Hyang Widhi in his incarnation as Lord Brahma; Pura Puseh was built to worship Ida Sang Hyang Widhi in his incarnation as Lord Vishnu; Pura Dalem was built to worship Ida Sang Hyang Widhi in his incarnation as Lord Shiva. The three temples are known as Pura Kahyangan Tiga which is located in every traditional village in Bali.
When we were there we could gain access to the outer temples and courtyard, but not the inner temple.
