high-definition creative commons photographs from the Amaravati Dhyana Buddha Statue in Andhra Pradesh together with further information.
The Dhyāna Buddha statue of Gautama Buddha seated in a meditative posture is located in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, India. Construction began in 2003 and was completed in 2015. The statue is 125 ft (38 m) tall and it is situated on a 4.5-acre site on the banks of the Krishna River. It is embellished with modern reproductions of sculptures from the Amarāvatī School of art which flourished in the region from 200 BC to 200 AD. The Dhyāna Buddha project was conceived by R. Mallikarjuna Rao.
When we visited I was able to photograph most of the reliefs on the immediate outside and inside of the structure, but I only got a selection of photographs of the reliefs on the long walls enclosing the compound. The story behind some of the reliefs was not always clear to me, and have been given general titles.
