Jiuhuashan (Mount Jiuhua), or the Nine Lotus Mountains, is one of the Four Sacred Mountains of Chinese Buddhism. Located in Anhui Province, it is the dedicated bodhimaṇḍa (spiritual seat) of Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva (Dizang), revered for his vow to never achieve Buddhahood until all hells are empty. Its name comes from the nine highest peaks that resemble blooming lotus flowers, a poetic description attributed to the famous Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai.
